This post is more of a placeholder but I would love to hear war stories and funny stories from the road along with how problems are solved, especially if it involves 12 volt products from my favorite Online Truck Stop.
Welcome to Road Travel 12 Volt Products Blog
By Tom | Filed in 12 Volt Products | One commentI have a friend with an Online Travel Supply Store called 12 Volt Travel dot com. So I’m making this blog to support his efforts and promote the 12 Volt side of being on the road and off the grid.
Just to get started I would like to announce a couple of new products. First the hard to find Garmin NUVi 465T commercial GPS. A top of the line GPS specifically for large vehicles like semi trucks and super massive RVs.
The unit will take into consideration weight and height limits, along with a whole list of other parameters the user can set, when it plots your course for you.
Another important development is on the other end of the weight scale; Motocycles. There is a Garmin Motorcycle GPS and a line of Bluetooth headset communication devices. More on all that later.
Just so you know comments are heavily moderated here, however if you would like a link or two feel free to comment and leave a couple. I will probably ask for one in return. One way or another I’m sure we can work it out.

Good and healthy food on the road can be hard to find and very often the family ends up dining on whatever is available, even if it isn’t particularly healthy or economical. The solution is to bring your own food and resupply at supermarkets, where you can acquire fresh meat and produce.
The challenge in doing that is food storage. The solution is the combination of two terms Engle and 12 Volt Travel.
From experience I can tell you that the most reliable name in portable refrigerator is Engle and 12 Volt Travel features of full line of Engle. Not only that but there is quite a bit of information and pictures on the 12 Volt site supporting their Engle products. Enough information to make an informed buying decision.
With powered refrigeration and even freezer space along with regular non-powered coolers you can store theĀ food of your choosing and prepare it when it is convenient for you.
Eat healthy, live long, don’t worry, be happy.
Rvers and Truckers are not the only ones traveling. There are lots of motorcycles on the road these days. More than ever, really. With the cost of gas and tires easy on two wheels I can see the trend continuing.

Midland Model BT2 headset communication system
In support of our friends on Motorcycles or sometimes called Touring Bikes the 12 Volt Travel team has added Bluetooth and GPS support for Motorcycles. This includes the Midland BT2 headset that does something like everything. Including Bluetooth to your appropriately appointed GPS.
It connects Mp3 players, iPODs, rider to rider communication and motorcycle to motorcycle communication. Handy thing to have.
The appropriately appointed GPS then would be something like the Garmin, “glove friendly” ZOMO550 Motorcycle Navigator, with 3.5 inch screen. Motorcycle GPS the way you want it.

Garmin Bluetooth equipped Motorcycle GPS
The Garmin Motorcycle GPS comes in two basic flavors, with bluetooth and without. It features “High Bright Sunlight-Readable UV-resistant” touch screen. Garmin and 12 Volt Travel both tout it as having a glove friendly touch screen or some statement along those lines.
It also comes with motorcycle and car mounting hardware.
Internal Lithum battery with four hours of service life included.

Beltronics Radar Detector GX65 Professional
By Tom | Filed in 12 Volt Products | No comments yet.A “Professional” Radar Detector? What’s up that? I was not even aware that there were professional speeders. Hope my new Corvette comes with one of these!
This puppy costs five hundred bucks, so it better jump through some hoops. I’m not really a speeder and I was not aware of what all radar detectors do, with any detail.

Beltronics Radar Detector, GX65
For example this one comes with a built-in GPS. Not to tell ya’ where you’re going but to tell what’s waiting for you on the road ahead. It comes, “pre- loaded with thousands of red light and fixed position speed camera locations throughout North America” and you can update the database at their website. Boggles the mind.
There’s more, the list of features is genuinely impressive. I’d chat about it here but it gets “a little” technical. It’s a Radar Detector but it’s also a Laser Detector…Yikes!
So lets see, I’m up against a Police Officer with an Interceptor car, Radar, a Dog, assorted small arms both lethal and non-lethal, two way radio, a cell phone and now Lasers too.
If this baby can report the future I guess I’ll be OK, but if things go awry, I’m gunna stop and pay the ticket. Here’s an even better idea, leave early, enjoy the scenery, drive safe, be cool.
In case the $500.00 price tag is a little steep, you can peruse a boatload of Radar Detectors by Cobra and Escort at 12 Volt Travel dot com.
